TWERPS | Recomendado

Hoy te propongo una banda poco conocida y muy buenos. Son australianos y se llaman TWERPS y vamos enfocar en su álbum de 2015 titulado "Range Anxiety".

Quarteto que ofrece un sonido indie - guitarra ("jangly") muy característico de las bandas australianas del sur y parte del escenario "alternative-indie".

GOUGE AWAY | Burnt Sugar | Recomendado

GOUGE AWAY son Tommy Cantwell – batería, Mick Ford – guitarra, Tyler Forsythe – bajo y Christina Michelle – voz , localizado en Florida (EE.UU) llevan juntos desde 2012. Banda que hace un sonido "Noise Rock" y que están influenciados por grupos como "Nirvana", "Fugazi", "Pixies" etc.

Acaban de publicar su segundo álbum titulado "Burnt Sugar" mezclado por Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker) y producido por Jeremy Bolm de "Touche Amore" y mola mucho.

Súper trabajo que recomiendo lo busques por los canales habituales.

Puedes quitar BILLY F GIBBONS de ZZ Top, pero no puedes quitar ZZ Top de Billy F Gibbons. Así es la mejor manera de describir el nuevo álbum en solitario del Tejano titulado "The Big Bad Blues". 

Yo lo menciono por respeto a este grande del blues-rock americano, y aparte me gusta mucho los Blues. Si eres ZZ Top fan te va gustar.

Los chicos de Nashville (EE.UU) ALL THEM WITCHES publican un nuevo álbum titulado "ATW". Ya tenemos adelanto y esta el tema de p*ta madre.

BEASTIE BOYS | Book

El mes que viene se lanza el libro (tipo biografía) del trío americano BEASTIE BOYS. Creo que ya se puede pedir vía "preorder" en las plataformas correspondientes. Libro que comienza describiendo los comienzos de los Beastie Boys hasta ahora incluyendo pasando por la muerte de Adam Yauch.

Aparte de ser uno de mis grupos favoritos está generalmente reconocido la enorme influencia que ejercieron estos tres tíos sobre el Rap, el Hip Hop y los artistas del género actual. Aparte son grandisimos musicos y multi instrumentalistas comenzando tocando hardcore-punk, dando el salto a la fama como gamberros y terminando en creando un estilo propio de calidad que rompieron moldes. BILL RYDER-JONES | Yawn | Nuevo Álbum

El compositor, músico y fundador de la banda inglesa THE CORAL, BILL RYDER-JONES nos adelanta el single de su álbum en solitario titulado "Yawn" previsto para el día 2 de Noviembre 2018.

Me gusta mucho el single, el sonido de la guitarra y esa voz tan característica rasposa.  Esperamos atentamente más material del nuevo álbum en estas semanas, hasta entonces disfrutamos de este tema. Mola!

TALK TALK | Spirit of Eden - 30 año aniversario

Ya he subido posts aquí sobre TALK TALK y el magnífico álbum "Spirit of Eden" (1988). ¿Pero sabes que? cualquier excusa como el 30 año aniversario de su publicación me basta para volver a darlo otro post y seguir insistiendo en la maravilla que es "Spirit of Eden" y su "padre", artista, cantante, músico y creador MARK HOLLIS.

TALK TALK era una banda que se transformó desde sus principios como grupo "new romantic", a coquetear  con la música pop,  a jugar con lo experimental y ser a su término pionero/s del post-rock. Terminaron en un nivel trascendente artístico que solo puedo describir como sublime. Y después pufff! el fin, Mark Hollis "desaparece".

Para mi el disco de Talk Talk que más me emociona es "Colour of Spring" (1986) pero "Spirit of Eden" es artísticamente un salto hacia lo divino en cuanto dejar rienda suelta a la creatividad. Mark Hollis consigue liberarse de su discográfica EMI (o le dan el finiquito) para poder pasar más tiempo en el estudio y componer lo que él quiere sin tener que estar pendiente de los que "vendía" o estaba de moda musicalmente. Hollis estaba en puro investigación artístico y absorbiendo todo tipo de estilos e influencias musicales como jazz, ambient, electrónica y clásico durante los últimos años de los 80.  Con carta blanca compuso, elaboró y publicó el disco "Spirit of Eden" una obra maestra bajo cualquier estilo de música. No solo es un trabajo esencial para tener y escuchar, consagró a Mark Hollis como uno de los grandes artistas músicos de su generación sin tener en cuenta su tendencia natural a no querer estar bajo los focos de atención ni de los medios ni del público en general. Estaba simplemente entregado al arte y nada más a ella. Era un "ermitaño" para el gran público y para sus fans.

Como ya esta escrito por mi en anteriores posts, recomiendo que busques y escuchas "Spirit of Eden". No es un disco fácil, es muy introvertido, especialmente emotivo (hay un tema sobre la heroína y su hermano) y es muy muy sutil bajo influencias de muchos estilos y arreglos. Tened paciencia y dejarte llevar, te absorbe.

Feliz 30 años! Disco Recomendado!

THE B-52's | Wild Planet | Recomendado

Muchas veces no te das cuenta de lo realmente bueno que puede ser una banda o un álbum hasta que pasa un tiempo, un buen tiempo. En el momento de la publicación del trabajo quizás no lo aprecias y valoras que rompedor y innovador que puede ser la oferta.

El ejemplo que me viene a mi son los americanos THE B-52's y su álbum de 1980 "Wild Planet". Banda hortera que ha su vez fueron rompedores , algo queer pero gustaba a todos los públicos y quizás uno de los mejores grupos para música de guateque o para un party. Eran divertidos.

Busca el disco y darlo una escucha, y más si vas a celebrar una fiesta con amigos. Mola y mucho! Recomendado

MISFITS | Walk Among Us | Recomendado

Siguiendo la línea de sonidos "fuertes" esta semana del blog hoy te propongo para el fin de semana el álbum "Walk Among Us" (1982) de los MISFITS. Eran parte de la explosión "punk" y "hardcore" de su tiempo y esta gente añadieron elementos de teatro y con impacto visual para dar más bola a sus historias de "horror" y temas "cinematográficos". Elementos diferenciadores y creativos.

Ahora más de 30 años después la comunidad de "skaters" (skateboarding) y "surfers" los tienen como parte de sus playlists de canciones para escuchar. Magnifica banda liderada por Glenn Danzig y más sus entretenidas historias; lo que hacían lo hacían de pu*a madre. Banda y disco recomendado!

BLACK FLAG | Damaged

Vivimos en tiempos turbulentos con incertidumbre, cambios tecnológicos, desempleo, crisis, contratos basura, desplazamientos migratorios, guerras absurdas, regreso de ideologías fascistas, pobreza... y nuestra juventud (en su mayoría) nos cantan mierdas como trap, reggaeton y pop basura personificado aquí en España al menos con personajes "a la carta" de programas televisivos como "Operación Triunfo". Y asi es, un triunfo a lo simple, irrelevante y pop basura de consumir hoy escupir mañana.

¿Donde estan las bandas con jóvenes queriendo decirnos algo de verdad interesante y relevante? ¿Quizás cantar para denunciar algo malo, injusto o moralmente inaceptable? ¿Donde estan artistas que lideran a otros jóvenes para concienciar y "abrir otros caminos"?

Si me recuerdo del movimiento PUNK, Rage Against The Machine e incluso Manu Chao (solo para decir unos pocos)... pero hoy recordamos a BLACK FLAG, pioneros del Hardcore y el Punk Americano. Propongo uno de sus álbumes para re-descubrir, o si eres joven un álbum para buscar y para degustar, "Damaged" (1981). Un Henry Rollins y música para descolocar, romper moldes, cambiar definiciones, llamar la atención y incluso escandalizar. Una ola de ruido tremendo con un mensaje social o en su esencia un llanto de la juventud para algo mejor. En definitiva, algo que decir y para luchar.

Pedazo de disco... y quizás me estoy haciendo nostálgico y mayor :O)

LOW | Double Negative - Disco 2018

La banda americana LOW llevan juntos desde 1993 y publican su nuevo y número 12 estudio álbum titulado "Double Negative". Un trabajo curioso que descoloca a escucharlo. Difícil de digerir pero si lo dejas su tiempo te acaba por ganar.

Verlo de esta manera, esta gente tiene tanta tablas y credibilidad que pueden publicar lo que les salen de los c*jones. Es más ya han hecho y demostrado que dominan muchos palos y si quieren explorar una nueva vía de creatividad quién somos nosotros para pararlos.

Un álbum "experimental" que crea para destruir para después crear de nuevo. Diferenciador,  y un gran disco. A mi me ha costado pero me ha ganado, me tiene enganchado!

BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS | Criminal Minded

Uno de los grandes álbumes del Hip Hop es "Criminal Minded" de BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS liderado por el entonces joven y talentoso artista de rap KRS 1. Considerado hoy como ejemplo del "Old School" sigue siendo un referente y los samples empleados son simples y super efectivos (Productor Scott LaRock).

Un trabajo lleno de historias de "la calle" y con mensajes positivos enfocados a una audiencia buscando soluciones a dificultades socio-culturales. Magnifico disco, recomendado!

Los franceses Guillaume y  Jonathan Alric (son primos),  llamados artísticamente THE BLAZE,  publican su debut álbum titulado "Dancehall" (7 de Septiembre de 2018). Aparte de elaborar cortos (cine-films) son productores musicales y ofrecen un sonido "down-tempo beats". Llamémoslo lo que queremos han lanzando un pedazo de disco para ser el primero y es candidato para ser uno de los mejores del 2018. Lo que denomino yo aquí como un DISCO 2018. Impresionante!

Buscarlo y hacerte con ello! Ya!

El dúo publicaron el 10 de marzo, su segundo álbum titulado "The Jungle". Despúes de cuarto años y actuando por todo el mundo han recogido sus experiencias y plasmado todo en esta obra. Un trabajo más orientado hacia la pista de baile, con más dance beats, que tiene unos momentos muy bueno, por ejemplo el tema "Siren". 

Puedes escucharlo por los canales habituales y plataformas digitales. The Blaze esta previsto actuar en España (Bilbao) medidos del 2023 en un Festival.

UNWOUND | Recomendado

Una banda americana para descubrir y explorar su material es UNWOUND. Un trío con Justin Trosper (voz, guitarra, compositor), Vern Rumsey (bajo) y Brandt Sandeno (batería) que formaron en 1991 y duraron hasta 2002. Publicaron muchos trabajos y para tenerlo todo en un solo sitio, recomiendo el recopilatorio "No Energy".

Música punk-rock muy bueno, que influenciaron a otros músicos que ahora ejercen su arte (eg Wolf Parade, por ejemplo). RECOMENDADO!

THOM YORKE | Suspira

Nuevo tema de THOM YORKE para y de la película "Suspira" de Luca Guadagnino. Muy bueno!

AUDIOSLAVE fue un "supergrupo" con Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) y miembros de "Rage Against The Machine" como Tom Morello, Tim Commerford y Brad Wilk que formaron en Los Ángeles (EE UU 2001). En su momento no "impactaron" tan fuerte como esperado ya que la competencia era fuerte y quizás nuevas tendencias musicales eclipsaron algo.

He recuperado su álbum de 2006 "Revelations" y como un buen vino a mejorado con el tiempo. Me gusta más ahora que cuando me lo dieron la primera vez. Pasa muchas veces con otras bandas, los vuelves a escuchar en un nuevo contexto o periodo y captas la magia. 

Busca material de esta gente, recomendado!

SPIRITUALIZED | And Nothing Hurts

SPIRITUALIZED (aka Jason Pierce) ya tiene su nuevo álbum "And Nothing Hurts" en la calle, y aquí siempre tendrá su sitio. Llevo siguiendo este artista desde "Spacemen 3" y este es un muy buen disco. Buscarlo y darle una escucha.

JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD | Magick Songs

Los hermanos americanos Orrall (Jack y Jamin), aka JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD, vuelven con un nuevo álbum titulado "Magick Songs". Un trabajo de auténtico madurez artístico donde mezclan psych rock, garage, punk y pop. Me llama la atención este trabajo por su calidad, un disco para sentarte (o tumbarte), escuchar detenidamente y dejarte llevar. Gran álbum!

WILD NOTHING | Indigo 2018

Siempre tengo un sitio para la banda WILD NOTHING que publican nuevo álbum titulado "Indigo". Con este nuevo trabajo proponen un sonido de los 80 del siglo pasado que en sitios recuerda a "The Cure" - el video que subo. Voy ser honesto no es una "BOMBA" de disco, pero si eres fan y te mola el sonido "shoegaze" con algo de nostalgia es para escuchar.
